Sterling is Scandinavia’s first low cost airline, offering you scheduled flights to Scandinavia with fees lower than those offered by other companies.

Discount airlines offer a service wich is intermediate between charter companies and their traditional, regular-service counterparts.

With a discount company you can book a flight with more convenience than in the case of charter airlines, and you don't have to pay so much as in the case of their more traditional competitors.

Indeed, you should not expect the kind of onboard service found at traditional companies but within the European market, and particularly in Scandinavia, where airline fares are normally high and flights are not excessively long, the savings found at discount airlines will probably be worth the lack of luxury service.

Sterling publishes its website in various languages: English, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, and offers secure server transactions.

Interesting discounts are offered in the following routes:

From Alicante

From Barcelona

From Malaga

We recommend all travellers going to Scandinavia, to take into account that prices in general are very high there, but there are also significant variations between each country.

It is also important to consider that in order to visit and get to know these countries, you should do some research and try to travel like the locals; tourist services tend to be much more expensive than those intended for Scandinavians, and you could save a bundle of money in this way.

For instance, some years ago, the 'official' bus that went between downtown Oslo to the international airport, used to cost about three times as much as the local, regular service that indeed took a little longer, but in our view, the time saved with the former difference did not justify the price difference in any way.

We also recommend you to take along your own food whenever you travel by bus, train, air, etc. because on-board meals are also very expensive. For example, a simple sandwich on the train between Oslo and Trondheim used to cost about 36 NK, which was approximately six euros.A can of beverage or a little water bottle would cost you the same, while in Copenhagen or Hamburg the price for exactly the same can was about one fourth of that.

Don't think that you will get some kind of special quality for that price; the sandwiches in question were average ones with a bit of cheese and ham, and little else.

What is particularly good about Scandinavia is that almost everyone understands English, and many can also talk in German, so travellers will have little or no problem at all with communication.

These countries have terrific landscapes, and are very picturesque, particularly in the case of Norway; we recommend you that once you reach Scandinavia, choose to travel over land or by boat instead of using aircraft, so that you will get to see the area much better.
