 | Quality eBooks For People Who Wish To Succeed. Jose Ortega y Gasset, the famous Spanish philosopher said once that Argentina was not a country that committed more mistakes than others, but made those mistakes before anyone else; and those who have the rare privilege of knowing well the South American country will certainly find out today what kind of prophetic value those words had. Indeed, Argentina made a lot of mistakes; the same ones that we can witness in the European Union and the United States.
Government ineptitude confronting emergencies such as the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, constant restructuring among large corporations leaving to more unemployment, allegedly free-market economic policy making that have a decimating effect on the economy of nations, and even war provocation due to electoral reasons are all things that the argentine connoisseur has already seen, and it is awesome to see how the self-appointed developed nations of the even more self-appointed developed world are diving into the same sea of dumbness.
And one of the things about which we have to warn people who just are thinking on 'settling down' into adult, suburban life is the fact that given the kind of forces that have been unleashed, you will never be able to settle down. If you believe you are doing so and start depending on the good will of society to get a corporate job, a pension and so on, you will find yourself sooner or later in a dire situation, out of a job, without a pension and possibly even without your savings; because - no doubt about it - as the government and corporations decide whenever they want to unilaterally change the rules of contracts, they will, one day if needed, decide not to pay your pension or reduce it at will.
Argentina was in 1946 more prosperous than Europe, and people lived there much better than in a good part of the so-called developed world - do your homework and check history books - and then, cutbacks, restructuring, changes in the rules of state services and so on began accumulating… like what happens now in the United States, in Germany, France and other countries.
If you settle down, if you believe that your country is different, when you reach 60 you will be giving company to the Argentineans, for in the society that is building up due to globalisation there is no room for the weak, the weakened, or those unwilling to predate on others.
The global village is really a global shantytown, where every worker becomes a commodity and earns the same, and consumes, reproduces and just believe any foolish proposition of presidents and prime ministers.
