It seems evident that throwing away food in a world where most of the people are hungry and even starving - and not because there is a lack of food worldwide - because a fraction of humanity is fetching everything directly or indirectly is a morally questionable thing. It also seems obvious that not eating something because 'we don't like it,' even if we never tasted it is capricious and also morally bad.
But seeing the whole matter from a survivalist point of view, doing these things is plainly dumb and suicidal, because as we accustom our bodies to our 'tastes,' these will turn themselves into useless needs: we 'will' need to eat that, but not that other thing… We 'will not' eat raw meat or fish, or vegetables because 'they are not tasty' and so we will deprive ourselves from very important and perhaps the only available sources of nourishment under survival or extreme conditions.
Useless needs become weaknesses because we cannot satisfy needs that are not necessary for survival, and such lack of satisfaction or a placebo may end up being dangerous for surviving.
For example: if you don't have turkey for dinner, that would not affect your survival chances; but if the only thing you have at hand to eat is a rodent, a rat to cook over kerosene-smelling coal or wood - albeit it will not kill you - would make many people doubt about that meal.
That rodent may save your life, if you tolerate swallowing it; so habits may well go against you. Some people even vomit when trying to eat such things that in some cultures are quite normal and hence, not poisonous or harmful for human consumption in any way; and if you vomit, you spend even more energy and loss other kinds of nourishment that you may have already placed in your stomach.
So it is better to become less stringent with food; eat all sorts of meals and be open-minded to other cultures; that very posture may well save your life one day.
