This site tells you about makeup techniques to look great all the time no matter what; great techniques for women and girls dating or looking for a partner.
It is not clear when makeup was really invented, but it seems that a great variety of cultures and civilisations used it. Both men and women have been using additives that stick to the skin for various reasons, but all of them can be resumed into two main ones: The most obvious is to attract people of the opposite sex; this motivation exists today and it did ten thousand years ago too.
But the second motivation has more to do with survival techniques than anything else, and a probable use for makeup and cosmetics in the past was to repel small insects and animals that may attack the human skin.
So, you can also use these techniques during your next outdoor adventure or while in an emergency situation: if you rub or cover your exposed skin with certain natural substances, you stand a very good chance of repelling insect attacks. The most used stuff for this purpose includes mud, ashes, natural oils and even tobacco leaves. You just plaster or rub these on your skin, and they do a pretty good job as natural repellents.
Naturally, it was only a matter of time since this was discovered by the early humans, and then the use of these substances became more stylised and ritualised, like it happened with the use of flower petals to pay homage to dignitaries or during celebrations.
Throwing flowers and flower petals has a symbolic meaning, but also a practical one: during times in which no deodorant was available, this was a way to spare certain people from smelling the bad odours that existed in some places.
