Flying clubs, golf and nautical clubs have some things in common.

First of all, flying, sailing or boating and golfing are expensive activities. It is expensive to do anything in these realms, period. Secondly, there is a perception of snobbery surrounding any of these activities; many among the common public perceive pilots, navigators and golfers as pedantic or arrogant. And thirdly, in any of these clubs you will get acquainted with very interesting people, in some cases powerful, and in others, extremely rich, powerful and famous.

The feeling of snobbery exists because being these activities expensive, they are mostly reserved for people with money, and some wealthy individuals may be indeed snobs. However, to play golf, sail or fly you also need a lot of skill, and anyone who develops these skills and knows about his or her real value, needs little pedantry in life, so this issue about snobbery is more of a myth than anything else.

The two first aspects of these sports and activities are part of the folkore that surrounds any expensive hobby, job or activity. But the real issue is that indeed, by entering such clubs you access an elite in every sense of the word. These are realms that invite you to achieve perfection in all aspects: your character, your dressing, your manners and your sporting skills.

It may be a little pecuniary, but a perfectly good and logical reason to join is that over time you will get to know individuals who are worth their weight in gold, and many of them, being you a fellow member of their clubs, will be ready to help you one day. Believe it: we have met a few millionaires and a couple of billionaires in the meantime!
