Books, software and information for private investigators. Writing about crimes and punishment forms seems to have been quite a popular theme since the invention of scripture, already quite some time ago, and one of the clearest examples that tells us what happens in relation to all this, the kind of warnings addressed to criminals and how some crimes really pass undetected or unsolved, is the case of the bronze statue of queen Napir-Asu, of the Elamites.

This statue is a marvellous work of art of late prehistoric times: it was cast in the year 2.000 B.C., approximately. It is about 1,30 m high and was prepared using the lost wax method, a technique still used today, which yields very precise and fine metal casts. It is possible to see written in Elamite, using the cuneiform symbols, all over the skirt of the queens' statue, a series of warnings to any robber or usurper of the statue, and the possible consequences of such deeds, paying special attention to spells and godly punishments.

However, it seems that these terrible warnings were not paid attention to by individuals that decapitated the statue, possibly to fetch the valuable bronze to sell it somewhere, sometime.
