The nature of our society is changing, for good or not so good. Corporations are becoming increasingly powerful, government officials and politicians seem to be colluding with those corporations above anything else, and the daily jargon has become one of productivity, profits, competitiveness and other stuff that ordinary people really couldn't care less about, while more important matters like ecology, the environment, religion and spirituality, education, science, social issues and even legality are being put somewhat aside and even derided as a handicap on the performance of the economy. Now, it is not important to have the right knowledge to gain and keep a position of influence, but to have the right connections.

And this reflects itself in a higher and ever increasing unemployment rate, climate change, companies profiting from war and destruction, nepotism - brothers and sisters, spouses and personal friends of political leaders gaining important positions -, the evolution of democracies into a new form of police state, and so on.

At the individual level this means a higher insecurity, especially in the job. And the only thing that can be done is to gain more education in order to offer more and better; this means gaining tertiary education, be it at a college, polytechnic school, military academy or whatever. But in this regard there is still something else that has to be done, and that is, to abbreviate or shorten studies whenever possible because the long seven-year or so college studies of the past make it impossible to readapt in life once one degree has been attained.
