Amazon.com - F 194

Bibliography and reference material on Farman F 194 aircraft. The evolution of the different aircraft variants produced by Avions Farman in the time between the two world wars was pretty successful in terms of engineering, albeit financially speaking, the company was facing trouble at the time; this evolution seems like a test catalogue of all engines made in France.

In this case, Farman equipped the basic F.190 with a 24 hp Hispano-Suiza engine made in the country; this gave the aircraft a slightly better performance, further improving its overall good design. The engine was of pretty high quality and reliability.

Hispano-Suiza was an originally Spanish and Swiss company that later opened a subsidiary in France; this one eventually overtook the place of the Spanish branch of the company as the situation in the country worsened. But Hispano-Suiza at the time produced also some leading designs, like the application of aluminium construction to aviation engines, which was a fairly new technology.
