Amazon.com - Beechcraft Twin Bonanza

Bibliography and reference material on Beechcraft Twin Bonanza aircraft.

The Twin Bonanza is one of the most strange and remarkable designs of Beechcraft. It is indeed, a truly exotic model.

This manufacturer of civil, commercial and military small aircraft has always been known mostly for its famous Bonanza, the little single-engine sporting an unconventional 'V'-shaped tail.

Introduced in 1946, the Bonanza has been a major success; it is a high-performance, retractable landing gear, single-engine aeroplane well-loved by the aviation community.

Beechcraft sought to capitalise on its success, and around 1960, introduced a two-engine variant of the Bonanza; although it shared some components and the name, it was quite different from the original, single-engine design.

If Beechcraft is known for something, it is firstly because of the quality of its products and designs, and secondly, because engineers there seem to love to fiddle with cockpits. So, each version of almost all models has something different, and quite a few of those changes are quite radical.

The Twin Bonanza has, for example, three seats in the front row instead of two, making it a little strange for pilots unaccustomed to such a layout. At nearly the same time, Beechcraft was working on the Baron, another high-performance twin that quickly overshadowed the Twin Bonanza.

The Baron began to be produced in large numbers, and the Twin Bonanza was soon discontinued. There are very few of these flying today, although we have a lot of single-engine Bonanzas and Barons (they are all two-engined) flying over our heads. Info on other Beechcraft models available here.
