Bibliography and reference material on Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft.

Info on other Beechcraft models available here.

As in the case of all other Beechcraft designs, the Bonanza is something special. Aesthetically very attractive, the classical Bonanza sporting the unique 'V' tail has become a symbol of speed, comfort and pocket depth, because the only thing that you can't say about the Bonanza is that it is an cheap airplane.

Reaching almost 200kts of speed, this design is a purebred destined for fast, comfortable transport for those who can afford such a plane. We here at Andinia admire the Bonanza as everybody else, but don't really find a suitable use for such a plane, so we dissent about its practical value. Maybe this is due to the fact that since are a little adventurous, we places where we like to land are barely enough for a Bonanza to crash in, but there are also differences between theory and practice that, according to our view, make the Bonanza a little bit overkill for most practical uses.

In the same engine power range you can find the much cheaper Cessna Skylane (C-182), and if you want to care for your Bonanza engine, you would not like to use it at high manifold pressure settings, thus, you will fly slower in order to save on engine wear. Thus, a well cared after Bonanza will more often than not also fly in the same speed range as the somewhat slower Skylane, unless the owner has a really deep pocket to pay for engine maintenance, wear and tear.

On the other hand, the Skylanes is more versatile, more robust, simple and pious with the pilot.

And another problem that the Bonanza has is that it may be a difficult plane for pilots transition from one version to another, since their panels have been designed very differently, leading sometimes to serious mistakes: consider the 'piano keys' and what happens between the flaps and landing gear levers in some versions - they are placed in such a way that you may confuse one with the other - as the prime sources for incidents and accidents related to panel misuse.

We can only tell a little about Bonanzas, their good things and their defects too. However, you will find plenty of information in the corresponding bibliography.
