If you are planning a trip to different latitudes or to another hemisphere, please think twice before purchasing summer clothes; summer there may not be what you think. It could be much colder or hotter.

It is quite a common mistake - particularly in the case of tourists going out of North America and Europe - to assume that going south things could only get warmer; that's true, but only until you reach the equator...

We have seen scores of such happy tourists stepping down from aircraft dressed for a day on the beach in what they thought were tropical lands, such as Argentina, Chile and New Zealand, only to find that the temperature was near zero degrees Celsius on arrival.

So, before purchasing any summer clothing, first take your time to wade thorough meteorological information concerning the places you intend to visit, just to see if what you think you need will be really useful or not.

And there is yet another mistake which is quite common, and it is to assume that the hotter things get, the more clothes you should take off. That may be nice and exciting on a seaside resort, but on hot and dry regions, that could be very unpleasant, and even fatal due to dehydration.

In fact, just seeing a picture of a Bedouin will show you that there is something wrong with that assumption. Such regions demand that the body remains completely covered with fresh, lightweight clothes. You don't need to wear warm clothes - and you shouldn't -, but covering your whole body is a must under such circumstances.
