Does God exist? Traditionally this question has been considered either from the perspective of pure belief or pure science. Both ways to see our world are fiercely opposed at times, and generally at odds; however, it may be the case that the truth does not lie near neither of these postures.

For all we know, rationally, God may exist at least as a possibility and as something that could be manifested materially in our world, according to the ideas of each person.

As an entity, speaking logically, God does exist since it is something that we may refer to; that is, it exists as a concept, at the very least. Now, be it for his own actions, or because of the actions of people who believe in a deity and as a direct consequence of that (example: the crusades and jihad), at least these beliefs become manifest in our reality.

To believe or not is a matter of personal inclinations, capabilities or the lack of them, but it is undeniable that the belief itself causes certain effects. Now we have to see if the things that happen in our world are rewards and punishments of a God that manifests itself thorough men, or it is the collective mind of us interpreting natural phenomena, fortuitous events and our own good deeds and mistakes, and manifest those thorough the notion of God existing.

Or maybe, God is a living being of the universe, much more powerful than us and seemingly almighty, even if he is not.

Indeed, some centuries ago we would have been condemned to death by stoning or burning at the stake - depending on whether the intolerants were Muslims, Jews or Christians -, but fortunately today we can invite all people to this debate.

For if we stop to think for a while, there is no doubt that God exists; the question is whether he created us, or we created him.
