The Gauchos do this all the time, albeit they are alone: here you can see a poncho shelter for three people and their backpacks. We havent's topped finding new uses for these elementary pieces of gear; ponchos are a must if you are serious about outdoor activities. In this picture you can see people already stucked in their sleeping bags, as well as their backpacks neatly under a layer of ponchos tied together, with some rocks over them just to avoid fluttering due to the wind. Three piolets were left outside because their sharp points and edges may compromise the overall protection by puncturing and cutting the ponchos in the event of string winds.
