Triggers are critical in any sort of trap, but when you can resort to military hardware things get somewhat easier; however, improvising a trap under true survival circumstances may be difficult in any case.
Resistance and strength of triggering systems will depend on the bulk, size and power of the trap itself; the stronger the force, the sturdier the trigger must be. On the other hand, weather and other conditions may degrade the state of the trigger until it becomes unusable or even activates the trap spontaneously.
