A Letter From the Webmaster of Andinia.com.

"Andinia.com is a search engine targeted towards the public interested in outdoor and environmental issues, as well as extreme sports. It began just as a project of a group of mountaineers living in Argentina, but in a short period of time it evolved into an ambitious undertaking.

Without any kind of advertising other than registering our name in a couple of search engines, in less than a year, the traffic levels of Andinia.com rose from nil to more than 100,000 monthly page views, nearly 300,000 monthly hits and more than 20,000 unique visitors per month as well, not to mention the surprise that we had when we learned – by means of an official appraisal- The value of the seven letters that comprise the word “Andinia.”

Soon enough Andinia became a full-time project for those involved in it, and the result is a search engine that even has its own knowledge base and content comprised by 23,000 web pages, pictures and graphics in every possible colour, carrying rotational banners, search forms and a myriad of links. We realised that there are virtually no competitors in this niche and thus, that we are satisfying a real need among the public.

Thus, we concluded that it is time for us to grow by searching partners and investors interested in reaching the same goals and able to complement our abilities and improve those areas that we honestly feel that need expertise that we are lacking. 

We have visitors from the whole world, but since Andinia has been published both in English and Spanish, it has also been made accessible to the most important fraction of users across the Internet, as well as the sector that is enjoying the highest growth rates.

Despite the fact that the big engines have already saturated the overall market, it is a fact well-known by many experts in the area that niche or specialised search engines and portals not only still enjoy a chance, but are becoming the choice of many users identified with those new and smaller services. We believe that Andinia.com fits snugly in this category, as our externally audited data proves.

As a new media and market, the Web offers excellent development conditions in areas related to travel, adventure and outdoor activities in all forms – related to ABC markets, by the way – and we believe that Andinia.com can become one – if not the only or even principal – source of choice for surfers interested in such topics.

On the other hand, maybe because of our nature as mountaineers, we always looked upon other search engines as impersonal data sources where the user has no real contact with the people behind the monitor screen.

Thus, we gave to our engine the personal and humane touch that all our visitors can appreciate by means of our own names and pictures plastered all across our pages, because we see our visitors not only of users of our service, but as people who share our own interests.
