American football is difficult to understand, especially for all those around the world that assume that it is a copycat of rugby with undertones from Holywood and Disneyland. For sports enthusiasts around the world soccer is the name that American football pundits want to give to the original, English football with eleven players per team and a round balll in order to steal the name and title of the football.
However, and despite its lack of popularity outside the USA, American football is an interesting sport that deserves better, and from which we can all learn quite a bit. For example, judges or referees are in amuch better position in American football games than in traditional, english football ones. It is exceedingly unlikely that a team will not win the Superbowl because of mistakes made by the referee; however, it has happened that national teams lost the world championship final game because of such mistakes.
On the other hand NFL teams are profitable, while football teams in Argentina and Brazil, which produce the best ahtletes in the world in the case of traditional football - soccer , for our U.S. friends - are almost always near bankrupcy.
So there is a lot to learn about American football and why it is a success, at least in the Unted States. In our forum we have published some comments regarding American football as a sport and as an entertainment form that you may find interesting to read, or perhaps even contribute to.
If you are a fan of this sport, I invite you to post your own points of view and help promote your beloved American football.
