This was a man like many others during Elizabethan times in England, destined to live a grey life in a cruel existence with little or nothing to pass to future generations. He wasn’t a great warrior, a nobleman or anything like that. He was just a sailor to whom something extraordinarily bad happened. His story is not well known but is nevertheless a perfect example of how persistence ends up being the key to survival:
