Many people loath mathematics but without that discipline we would not be able to understand many things. In the realm of exploration, research, science and so on, things like the Fibonacci series, calculus, logic, geometry, etc. are fundamental.
The problem is not the topic but most often those that attempt to teach it. Many math teachers know what they are talking about but don't know how to properly convey that knowledge to their students. They fail to show how it could become a practical tool for them, and they also fail to insprire enthusiasm. We know how it ends: Students sight in relief when they get out of the classroom.
But if you want to become a serious explorer, navigator or scientist; if you want to understand things such as meteorology, cartography, the physics of flight of your paraglider, ballistics or how the water in a river behaves, you need to learn a good deal of math; so here are some links that might be useful if you want to learn a little bit frm people who really know how to explain the topic:
