Bad weather is common in almost every mountain range; there are natural facts that cause meteorological variability in the mountains located in our planet. Maybe in other celestial bodies things are different but as long as we are here and we go to climb or trek to anything that is not flat terrain per se, we will have to count with weather changes. And the second characteristic of mountain weather is that those changes take place very fast: it is almost impossible to provide long term accurate weather forecasts and it is even difficult to do the same even in the short run. Indeed, mountain weather sometimes changes in less than an hour.
If you are in an exposed are with no vegetation, either you should prepare your high-altitude camp or descend to more hospitable heights.
The best way to deal with foul mountain weather is to get away from it, and while this might not be practical in all cases, at least mountain enthusiasts should consider finding shelter in a proper place. In other words, even if you cannot get out you should stop what you are doing and provide yourself with an adequate shelter.
