Kaluza, Theodor - Theodor Kaluza (1885-1954) was a German mathematician and physicist; he made significant contributions to Einstein's original general relativity theory by demonstrating that gravity and electromagnetism are unified as one force by finding compatibilities in Einstein's and Maxwell's equations provided that a fifth dimension was added to the original four space-time ones used by Albert Einstein. Kaluza's suggestion was based on the works of Riemann, who conceived hyperspace as a mathematical fact. However, it was the achievement of Kaluza and Klein to demonstrate hyperspace physical existence as well.
