Beaufort, scale - The Beaufort scale measures the speed of the wind based on empirical observations; it was created by sir Francis Beaufort. The speed is calculated according to v = 0.836 Bexpxx3/2 m/s. V is the speed of the wind at 10m above the sea level, and B, the Beaufort index, which is an integer, including the zero, which represents calmness.
