Kitchener, Horatio Herbert - Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916) was the first Duke of Kitchener; in his position, he became a ranking military officer and diplomat that organised and took part in several exploration and expansion ventures in the Middle East and Africa. He intervened successfully during the Fashoda crisis, as well as the Boer War and WWII. He vanished along almost all the crew and passengers on board the HMS Hampshire during a trip to Russia, apparently after the ship struck a mine; however, several conspirative theories still exist that seek to explain his untimely death.
