Belzoni, Giovanni Battista - Giovanni Battista Belzoni (1778-1823) was born in Italy and became a circus stunt man and juggler, antiquarian and explorer. He became famous by extracting voluminous statues and monuments in Egypt for the British Museum. He died on his way to Timbuktu, apparently from illness despite that there are some reports about a murder case.
