Rhodes, Cecil - Cecil Rhodes (1853-1902) was a South African businessman, entrepreneur and politician. He was born in England but founded the De Beers mining company dedicated to the diamond business in South Africa and during his life he remained a noticeable force that shaped the country. He was an archetypal colonialist and founder of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe and Zambia, believed in the superiority of Europeans and financed numerous expeditions thorough the continent.
