Chapman, James - James Chapman (1831-1872) was a South African photographer, hunter and explorer that almost beat Dr. Livingstone to the Victoria falls as he was exploring then the Zambezi river but stood short of the falls by a few kilometres. He also explored Lake Ngami, Bechuanaland and the Okavango river, and was a noted travel associated of Baines and Galton.
