Makirta - The Makirta is a rather modest river in Siberia; the remarkable aspect about it is that it lies directly in the area destroyed during the Tunguska event, in 1908. In 1921, the first Kulik expedition followed its course to reach the hipocentre of the explosion since its members found it impossible to do otherwise due to the extensive destruction of the forest surrounding the area.
