Mate tea is a traditional beverage from South America; some say that it originated in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay or Brazil; it really doesn´t matter, but you too can enjoy this kind of tea, which is healthier than traditional tea or coffee, and it is easy to prepare even in the most extreme outdoor base camp.

The only problem that you may face is that mate tea is rather expensive outside South America; in most big cities in the United States, Canada and Europe you will find shops that offer 1kg mate packages, so you can enjoy the product there. However, if you travel to South America or have someone close to you there, purchasing mate is a far cheaper proposition.

However, our discussion now is not whether you can purchase mate or not, or whether you know what it is and the basics of its preparation. Here we will briefly consider a few tips to prepare it in the middle of the wilderness, far from any modern kitchen or the conveniences of urban surroundings. Nothing is carved in stone regarding personal tastes; however, our experience in the topic may prove good for you in some way or another.

This page will serve you as an index for this topic; you will find several links to mate-related articles that we have included. In this fashion and witouth extending each article too much until it becomes tedious, we will be able to deal with the topic tidyly but extensively as well.

If you are particularly interested in mate, we recommend you to bookmark this page, add it to your favourites´ list or linking to it.
