It is possible to construct circumstantial activated charcoal filters using the material provided by different sources:

3.4.7.2.2)- From conventional charcoal: there is always a small proportion of activated charcoal contained in this common variety. So, despite that regular charcoal is not as good as the other variant, it is still better than nothing.

3.4.7.2.3)- From ashes: in old fireplaces there is always a good quantity of charcoal in its both varieties.
