Since the night was already falling and no locals dare to cross the pass after late noon, she had to wait trapped inside the car for ours until our truck passed by. With no radio transceiver or mobile phone at hand, she turned off everything and made sure that no flame or spark could ignite the gasoline.

A couple of hours later, she and her baby would certainly freeze to death, because even summer nights at those latitudes and heights are very cold.

Soon, we called the police by radio, and a helicopter came from Ushuaia, taking the woman and her baby to a hospital.
