Despite the fact that thick snow began to fall again, we managed to get into the woods and eventually found a trail that led us to the last cabin that we saw on our way up, about five kilometres away.
There, the owner told us that he had already advised the border patrol about our case, and that we were at the time considered as disappeared. No one seemed willing to go out to search for us during that storm.
We spent two week recovering there and waiting until the storm passed, and then we returned to our emergency shelter to recover almost all our gear and to document the event. Most things inside the shelter were intact, and some other left under the snow didn't fly away with the wind but were difficult to find.
All of us suffered from frostbite on our toes and fingers, but aside from that we had no serious health-related problems.
