"It is advisable to wear down new footwear a little before using it on real wilderness treks.

New boots or shoes lack adaptation to the new user's feet. Therefore, it is advisable to adapt the soles and interior by wearing the shoes for some days before departing.

For a pair of good boots, this means at least one week of regular use.

It is inadvisable to take completely new shoes to a trek because they will prove to be quite uncomfortable and will certainly produce tiredness and blisters by the lot.

For this reason, it is not recommendable to buy second-hand boots."
