"If are about to climb a mountain an can reasonably expect to reach snow fields in one or two days, then you can improve your daily meals by taking some items that you would usually not take because you would need a refrigerator to keep them cool.

Indeed, you can use some snow as some sort of primitive refrigerator, even if you camp somewhat away from it, because the only thing that you would need in such a case is to take a relatively small quantity with you. Nights up in the mountains are usually cold enough as to prevent the snow from melting, so you will enjoy the benefits of modern life with no modernity at all, and your improvised fridge will need no electricity to keep on working!

Of course, you can use snow to prepare a bottle of champagne, a pina colada, or whatever you like. There is no limit but your imagination."
