Climbing can be done for a variety of reasons. Some people like the challenge or live on adrenaline, others do it for money, others to conquer their fears, and - at least in my case - to get a nice view. I always loved to look at things from above; I even fly small aircraft so you may conclude that I am not afraid of heights. The nice thing about seeing things in such a way is that every time you reach a nice place you say to yourself 'Ok. I like this place the most; I would like to build a hous here', but the next time you reach another place, you tell yourself the same thing. Flying general aviation ships (GA) - that is, small aircraft - is not like going in an airliner; turbulence may shake you a little bit more, but unless you fall prey of some wind rotor, downdraft or cumulonimbus cloud, you will be okay - even over the mountains -; turbulence will disappear, but your memories of the view outside your little Piper or Cessna will last forever. There are many ways to start either climbing or flying; in all cases, however, you would have to take lessons. Dangers in these activities come more from errors in judgement than anything else, and these, in turn, usually come from an incorrect attitude or lack of knowledge. The key for succeeding in any radical or extreme sport is to be prudent and train proficiently. There are many ways to start either climbing or flying; in all cases, however, you would have to take lessons. Dangers in these activities come more from errors in judgement than anything else, and these, in turn, usually come from an incorrect attitude or lack of knowledge. So the key for succeeding in any radical or extreme sport is to be prudent and train proficiently. There are many clubs and schools where you may start to learn these things; the great advantage of clubs is that after your initial training you may continue practising your sport and using their installations and equipment which - as you may imagine - is not exactly cheap.
